I used Julie's card for inspiration for my daughter's Valentine's Day card. I used my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software to create the frame. I was thinking of using my Nesties, but the SCAL software made it easy to make sure the two rectangles were perfectly centered. I just centered both rectangles to the mat both vertically and horizontally. I also cut the scalloped border using the Stack of Borders Scallops form My Scrap Chick One problem I had was that on SCAL the scalloped border was set to be 5.25". but it cut out smaller than that. To get it to be 5.25" long, I needed to cut it at 5.37". I would like to find a border with smaller scallops, but I didn't have time to look today. Can anyone point me towards one?
Thanks for looking,
Kim
ETA - If you look closely at the black mat around the DSP frame, you'll see that the corners have a tiny ticket corner punch. This was because I tried to ticket punch the Rose Red piece and it caught a smidgen of the black. I didn't like the ticket corner punch look for this card, so I replaced that piece of Rose Red.

Quick and Easy Masculine Valentine
The idea for my husband's Valentine's Day card this year came from the Clever Someday blog. I used the on-line program ImageChef to create the image for the card. I then imported the image into PhotoShop Elements and "poured" what I thought was going to be Real Red into some of the words. You can change the colours of individual words on the site, but I wanted to colour match. Unfortunately, the RGB numbers I used for Real Red, did not match my card stock. Luckily, they did match Riding Hood Red. Next time I'll try another set of specifications I have for Real Red. After that, I just cut out the image, mounted it on Riding Hood Red card stock and put it on a black base and was good to go!
Thanks for looking,
Kim

Valentine Ladybug
When I was in Michael's last week, I came across this lady bug stamp in the $1.50 bin. It has three little ladybugs on it in a row. Instead of dots, the ladybugs have hearts. I knew that it was the perfect stamp for my mom's Valentine's Day card as she loves ladybugs because her last name is Bugg!
My intention was to create a card with a row of ladybugs inside a scallop edge. That plan did not come together and instead I end up with this card with only one ladybug on it... though I did also put one on the inside and one on the envelope!

Then the card sat on my desk waiting to have the envelope addressed and when I came back to it tonight, I decided that it needed something more. So I added a layer of a basic black card stock and a scallop circle created with my Cricut, Sure Cuts A Lot software and a svg file from Two Peas in a Bucket and this is how it turned out:
Do you think it is an improvement?

Anniversary Card
My 17th wedding anniversary is tomorrow. I can't believe it has been 17 years. My husband, Tim is a very special man and I am so thankful for our relationship. I am truly married to my best friend.
I used Cindy's valentine card for inspiration for my anniversary card for Tim. I would have copied it exactly because it is so adorable, but because I don't have the punches that Cindy used, my hearts and squares ended up being a little bigger so this is what I came up with:
I'm pleased with the way that it turned out and I think Tim will like it too. He really liked the card I made him for Valentine's Day.
I'm a little disappointed with my scalloped square. I used my Cricut to create it using the Mini-Monograms cartridge. One of the corners is more in than the others. I actually cut two because I thought the paper had shifted on the first one. How noticeable is it? I thought about embossing with silver, but decided to go less elegant and use white. I used the white craft ink because my demo said that it worked better with the white embossing powder. It's not perfect, but I can let it go.
I wanted to say how much I appreciate the few comments that I have received. I started this blog as a journal for myself to help me remember the cards I have made, but input from others does make my day! It has also encouraged me to leave comments on the blogs that I visit.
Thanks for looking,
Kim

Quick Valentine's Day Card
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for my husband for a Valentine's Day card. I bookmarked a few, but wasn't feeling really inspired. Guy cards are such a challenge. This is what I ended up making:
On the inside I am going to write "I love ewe" or the words from that old song that is stuck in my head - "I love youuuuuuuuu...." I can't remember all the words or who sings it so I'm having a little trouble with my Google search! Too bad I couldn't sing to Google! For the image, I found this great Doodlebat font called DB Animal Valentine's at Scrap N Font . I couldn't decide between that font and DB Animal Occasion and decided to go with the Valentine one because of the hearts and the sayings. Lots of the animals are the same in the two fonts. Since I ended up covering up the ewe's heart with a Cricut cut out heart, I could of gone with the DB Animal Occasions font and got the CUTE penguin image that is in that set... I guess I'll have to spend another $3 US for that one too! What an awesome way to add to my images without breaking the bank. Besides lots of images for a cheap price, I also can print this images any size I want.

Valentine's Day Love

I created this card for my sixteen year old daughter for Valentine's Day. I used Dawn's cute card for inspiration. My challenge is trying to recreate cards I love with the supplies and tools that I have.
I used my Cricut with the Cricut Design Studio trial software to create the scallop similar to Stampin' Ups scallop punch. My scallops are slightly smaller than Stampin' Ups so I'll have to adjust that for the next time. I also used the Cricut to create the scalloped circle, the circle and the hearts.

Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #36

I decided to give Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #36 a try. I've been reading her blog for quite awhile and really enjoy her style. Many of the other blogs I have in my reader were found by looking at Kristina's Color Inspiration Round Up and I look forward to seeing all the cards in her round up each week. I love the colours she chose this week - rose red, pretty in pink, old olive and whisper white.
Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner and the pinks of the inspiration work for that holiday, I decided to make a card for my mom. One problem I have is that I have a limited amount of stamps and other than a few hearts, I don't really have a Valentine's Day stamp. I feel that I need to work on my colouring skills. I was beating myself up a bit about it and then decided to give myself a break. I've only had the markers for a few days and this card is definitely an improvement from the ones I've made in previous years. It's hard when you are comparing yourself to all the wonderful stampers that are out there. I am so thankful that they share their creations so that I have something to aspire towards. The positive thing I can say about this card is that I tried Michelle Skillicorn's Stay Put Bow for the first time and I love how it turned out. Thanks for looking,
Kim
