So Happy For You Trio

Well, this is almost a complete CAS of Patty's card. Sometimes I wonder if I should post cards that are so similar to someone else's and then I remind myself that my first reason for keeping a blog is so that I have a record of what I've created. I also think that it doesn't hurt to highlight cards made by others - perhaps my few followers don't know of Patty's work and will enjoy seeing her delightful card!

I liked this card so much that I've made it as a thank you card, a birthday card and a get well card. It is just so bright and cheery! Each one had a few minor changes.

On this little crafting journey of mine, one of many things I have learned is to NEVER buy ribbon that only has one good side. It is such a PAIN to tie!

Five Birthday Candles

I created this card for my great niece's fifth birthday using the candles from the Birthday Celebrations clipart set from Lettering Delights, my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software.  The scalloped circle is from a svg file from Two Peas in a Bucket.  I used the Cuckoo font for the 5 in the 0.8 circle.

Branch Out Birthday

The inspiration for the colour scheme and layout of this card came from Beth's card.   Beth had made her card for a challenge titled "Branching Out", which made me think of using my Branch Out stamp set.  I swapped Regal Rose for Pretty in Pink because I have DSP in Regal Rose, but not in Pretty in Pink!  I used my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software to cut the 3" circle and the scallop circle.  The scallop circle is from Two Peas in a Bucket and is cut at 3.25".  Looking at the picture of the card, I'm wondering if I should have tried framing the sentiment with Regal Rose.

Through the Trees Birthday

As simple as this card looks, it took me FOREVER to create.  First, my Stampin' Up white craft ink did not do a very nice job of covering the trees.  After about 5 tries, I decided that I would emboss them.  After accidentally pouring clear embossing powder on the trees, I finally got it right with the white embossing powder.

Next came sentiment problems.  I had it crooked on the acrylic block and then when I finally got it right, I smudged it while it was drying... that's the problem with using VersaFine ink.  I love how crisp the black is, but it does take time to dry.  Then I decided it needed brads so I need a longer piece of paper so off I went to stamp it again... of course it was after I had already cleaned the stamp!  It is still slightly crooked, but I've decided that is what is going to give it that homemade look!  ;-)

The black trees on the card base also took two tries.  It was hard to see the black tree trunks on the black card stock.  When I went to stamp the leaves, I messed it up... the second time I stamped the leaves and then the trunks.  It was a little easier, but still difficult to see.

Anyone who has stamped with me in person can well imagine how the cutting of the bird went for me.  I hate cutting out small things and the bird is TINY!  I needed my Ott Lite and my cheater glasses!

My inspiration for this card for my brother-in-law came from Lisa's card.

Valentine's Day Frame

I used Julie's card for inspiration for my daughter's Valentine's Day card.  I used my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot software to create the frame.  I was thinking of using my Nesties, but the SCAL software made it easy to make sure the two rectangles were perfectly centered.  I just centered both rectangles to the mat both vertically and horizontally.  I also cut the scalloped border using the Stack of Borders Scallops form My Scrap Chick   One problem I had was that on SCAL the scalloped border was set to be 5.25". but it cut out smaller than that.  To get it to be 5.25" long, I needed to cut it at 5.37".  I would like to find a border with smaller scallops, but I didn't have time to look today.  Can anyone point me towards one?

ETA - If you look closely at the black mat around the DSP frame, you'll see that the corners have a tiny ticket corner punch.  This was because I tried to ticket punch the Rose Red piece and it caught a smidgen of the black.  I didn't like the ticket corner punch look for this card, so I replaced that piece of Rose Red.

Quick and Easy Masculine Valentine

The idea for my husband's Valentine's Day card this year came from the Clever Someday blog.  I used the on-line program ImageChef to create the image for the card.  I then imported the image into PhotoShop Elements and "poured" what I thought was going to be Real Red into some of the words.  You can change the colours of individual words on the site, but I wanted to colour match.  Unfortunately, the RGB numbers I used for Real Red, did not match my card stock.  Luckily, they did match Riding Hood Red.  Next time I'll try another set of specifications I have for Real Red.  After that, I just cut out the image, mounted it on Riding Hood Red card stock and put it on a black base and was good to go!

Valentine Ladybug

When I was in Michael's last week, I came across this lady bug stamp in the $1.50 bin.  It has three little ladybugs on it in a row.  Instead of dots, the ladybugs have hearts.  I knew that it was the perfect stamp for my mom's Valentine's Day card as she loves ladybugs because her last name is Bugg!

My intention was to create a card with a row of ladybugs inside a scallop edge.  That plan did not come together and instead I end up with this card with only one ladybug on it... though I did also put one on the inside and one on the envelope!

Then the card sat on my desk waiting to have the envelope addressed and when I came back to it tonight, I decided that it needed something more.  So I added a layer of a basic black card stock and a scallop circle created with my Cricut, Sure Cuts A Lot software and a svg file from Two Peas in a Bucket and this is how it turned out:

Do you think it is an improvement?

Best Birthday Yet

I created this birthday card for one of my best friends who is also now my sister-in-law.  Her favourite colour is orange so every year I try to incorporate some orange into her card.  I like this colour combination and I hope she does too.  She's had a wonderful past year, meeting the love of her life so I'm excited to see what the coming year has in store for her.

The inspiration for this card came from Sandy's card.  I've changed the colours and the stamp sets, but the layout is the same.

Heartfelt Sympathy

Sympathy cards are never easy to create.  Like so many cards, it would be a great idea if I had a few made for when I need them, but I've yet to get myself ahead of the game.  I created this card for a friend who lost her grandmother recently.  It was inspired by Daria's card.
