Little Girls

I made this card for a friend's son and his wife who are adopting two little four year old girls from Ethiopia. A typical baby girl card wouldn't do for this situation so I found this word art quote made by Bethany to use on the card. I matched my printer ink to Regal Rose using the chart found here. Of course the quote wouldn't fit in my Nesties so I made my own scalloped rectangle using my Cricut and Cricut Design Studio. I only have the trial version of the program, but I'm hoping to get the Sure Cuts A Lot program for Christmas as I think it works a little smoother than the Cricut Design Studio.

Gratitude

I LOVE quotes and have been collecting them for quite awhile. I was so excited the other day when I found Scrapnfonts . First because of all of the great doodlebat fonts that I will be able to use with the Sure Cuts A Lot program (when I get it) and my Cricut. Then when I signed up for their newsletter, I found out about this great collection of Word Art.

Even though I have at least a $1 000 worth of stamping stuff (Oh, my!) it never seems to meet all my needs. It is hard for me to justify getting all my wants because this is just a hobby and if I make two cards in a week, I think I'm doing well. So if I can figure out ways to create with out buying more stuff, I'm pretty excited.

I used Photoshop Elements 6 and this chart to change the colours of the quote to match Stampin' Up's colours. It ended up being a real easy card once I figured out how to change the colours! I must say I'm also really loving my Big Shot and Nestablities.

Engagement Card

I created this card for my cousin to congratulate her on her engagement, but I'm wondering if I should save it for her wedding card. It was a very simple card to make, but I think it looks very elegant. It's a 5 1/2" square card.

Thinking of You Simple Sketches

I pretty well copied this card completely from Maria at splitcoaststampers.com. I just changed the base to Confetti White, the Black layer and ink to Chocolate Chip, the Really Rust to Ruby Red and the sentiment to "Thinking of You" as I may be needing a sympathy card soon. I also left out the vellum. I liked Maria's vellum layer, but I goofed when I was making my card. I was thinking the vellum went on top of everything. I glued my leaf squares down on the angular cut coloured pieces before I realized that the vellum should go between those two layers. I think it still looks nice.

Kim

New Baby Teddy Bear

Natasha's card on the Clean & Simple blog was my inspiration for this card. My image was a little wider than hers so I didn't have enough room for the ribbon... the only ribbon I had that matched my colours was 5/8".

I tried using my Blender Pen to colour the bear, but the colour was way off. The bear on the left is with the Blender Pen and the one on the right is with the Aqua Painter. Both used Creamy Caramel ink.

Happy First Birthday

I needed to make a card for my great niece, Anya's first birthday and I was inspired by Jo's card. I don't own the the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel (or any wheels) but once again it reminded me of designer paper.

Originally, I wanted to put Anya's name like it says baby on Jo's card, but that didn't work out so I decided to switch the star to a "one" to personalize the card a bit. I think a large scallop would look better on the bottom of the Regal Rose paper, but I don't own the Scallop Border punch and I'm having issues with the Cricut Design Studio so I didn't want to fiddle with that.

I think that the designer paper is the best deal if you don't own a lot of stamping stuff, especially if you can get in on a paper share. It gives you lots of variety and you don't need a lot of paper to create a cute card. Here's the above card without the "one". I think it would make a nice note card, or you could add a sentiment on the bottom to use for a birthday card.

In Full Autumn Bloom

One of my SU demos, Jennifer made a special trip into my town to deliver my order of Spots so I thought I should use them and make her a thank you card. Now, I know that I'm always inspired by some card I've seen somewhere, but I can't remember where I got the idea for this one. (That's what I get for not writing my blog entry on the day I made the card!) If I come across it again, I'll add it to this post.

After I photographed the front of the card, I decided to do a little more on the inside... not something I usually do, but something I think adds an extra something to the card. I got the idea from Denise's blog.

What Started as a Sketch Challenge

I've been thinking that I should start participating in some challenges just go move my skills along. So I picked Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge this week (#200!) to try. I looked in the gallery and found a few that I loved. This card by Laura got me thinking...

I'm so excited to have all the designer papers to choose from. Right now my ribbon selection is limited. The only striped ribbon I have is the Red Riding Hood so that narrowed down my paper choices. I'm also waiting for my Earth Elements spots to arrive so I couldn't make a fall card with leaves as I was envisioning. I don't have Red Riding Hood Ink nor a Happy Birthday stamp that would fit in the spot nicely so I printed the sentiment on the computer using the new guide for printer inks that I found here. Hasn't Stephanie done a wonderful job with her chart.I know my card doesn't qualify for the sketch. I made three squares, but they didn't seem to fit the card so I ended up with a nice card, but not what I set out to make. Oh well!

Kim

More Designer Paper

Misti's card was my inspiration for this card. I don't own the Upsy Daisy stamp set, but Misty's card reminded of designer paper so I used that instead.
