My First Challenge

I created this card for the Card Sketch Challenge 208 at Splitcoast Stampers. This is the first challenge I've ever participated in. Actually, I tried one before, but the card I ended up making did not fit the sketch.

It was nice to try a different layout and not rely on copying someone else's card. It still takes me an awful long time to create a rather simple card... oh well, at least I'm happy while I'm doing it! I love the colours of this card - they make me smile!
The inside was embossed with my Cuttlebug Snowflakes Embossing Folder using my Big Shot.

Playing with Christmas Gifts

I finally had a chance to sit down and make a card today using some of my new stamping stuff that I received for Christmas. I coloured the snowmen with my new SU markers. I LOVE these markers! I just coloured today, but I can't wait to try out some other techniques.

I cut the Flaky Friends out using my new oval and scalloped oval Nestabilities. I'm not sure that I like the embossing of the white oval, but it isn't so bad that I felt I should toss it out.

The eyelets are the bonus eyelets my husband (with the help of my mom) got from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts when he ordered 1500 brads for me... I now have brads in every SU regular colour! He also got me 10 yards of ribbon in So Saffron (Buttercup on the website) so I could check out the quality. It's great. What an awesome price for ribbon plus it comes in more colours than what SU offers. I'll definitely be getting more ribbon from them.
The last new thing that I used on this card is my atYou Spica Glitter Pen in Clear. I don't think you can see it very well in the picture, but it is super cool. It's so easy to add a glitter to tiny areas like the stars. My husband also got that from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts . I don't think it is on their website, but if you join their mailing list you'll find out about special orders. They had an awesome deal on Copic markers, but I decided that SU markers were a better investment for me. It's not that I wasn't tempted to join the Copic bandwagon, but I'm practical girl and don't think I'll be colouring enough to justify investing in Copics.

This card is missing something. I'm wondering if there should have been another layer between the Banbury paper and the Close to Cocoa base.

Punchy Snowman

I used Mary's card as inspiration for this card. The silver snowflakes are table confetti that I picked up years ago after Christmas. I wanted to put the saying on the front of the card, but I had made my snowman too big so I had to use it on the inside of the card.

Georgia Peach Birthday Whimsy

I created this card for my cousin's birthday. It's pretty straight forward. The only think new that I tried was the double bow. I placed a piece of 1/4" ribbon in the knot of the 5/8" ribbon bow. Here's a picture of the inside of the card. I'm trying to decorate the insides of my cards more often.

Using Up Bits and Pieces

I can't share many details about this card. I needed a quick card so I used stuff I had made about two years ago in Stampers 10. The red was part of a tag holder that we had made. We had used a Stampin' Around Wheel to make the background. We had also made the tags but I don't have the stamp set so I don't know the name of it. If anybody can help me with details, it would be greatly appreciated! I think we used liquid applique to make the puffy snow on the bottom.

Snowflake Ornament

I made this card for my nephew. Every year we renew his magazine subscription to Golf Digest for Christmas. I wanted to make him something special to write a the note telling him that we had renewed it again. I'll get my sister-in-law to hand it on the tree on Christmas Eve.

I didn't get a great picture of the card. We haven't had a lot of sunny days and since I seem to be at work from sunrise to sunset, natural light alludes me.

My inspiration came from Gretchen. I don't have the SU Rub Ons, but I do have a large snowflake stamp that my sister-in-law gave to me after she gave up stamping. My Cricut and Cricut Design Studio came in handy for cutting this card out. Once I got all the measurements figured out, it was quite easy to make. The silver scallop is 5 1\2". The white ring is 5". I used the Cricut Design Studio to cut a 4" circle out of the middle thinking I would save some of the paper. But then I needed another 4 1/2" navy circle to cover the ring on the inside of the card so that was a waste of time!

You write on the scalloped edged white circle of the card. I scored the hanger so the card opens easily. (You can slightly see the score lines in the first picture.) I used a 1 1/2" tag cut using the Cricut George cartridge to make the hanger.

Flaky Friends

I've been working on this card in stages. That's one thing I love about having my own space to stamp. I can leave projects out and come back to them when I have a few minutes and with Christmas preparations in full swing, I only seem able to sit for a few minutes. The design is my own, but I was inspired by Denise for the inside. I love how she always does something on the inside of her cards too!

Flaky Friends' Tree

I was trying for a more masculine Christmas card for my 26 year old nephew, so no ribbon or scallops. I coloured the image using ink smudged on a plastic sheet and a blender pen... I'm hoping for markers for Christmas!
