Scalloped Birthday Card

Denise's card was my inspiration for this card. It proved to be more difficult for me to make than I thought. I even rated it a 2 in the Splitcoast gallery! I like my card, but not as much as I like Denise's! I think I'll try it again someday using my hints below. Ithas been tough getting a good picture as there aren't many sunny days here in the winter... but tons of them in the summer! I have tried adjusting the levels in Photoshop, but I should do a little reading on that topic, as I don't think I've got it quite right.

Since I don't have Nesties in the circle shape, I decided to use my Cricut for the card base. I decided to use a 5 1/2 inch scalloped circle using the Mini Monograms cartridge. Now that I've made the card, I know that a 5 inch scallop would be better because I needed a smaller white circle so it would fit in my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder like on Denise's card. I also should have made my Perfect Plum circle smaller so I wouldn't have to cut it off at the top. Another hint is when cutting folded card stock, you need to temporarily stick the two sides together when it is cutting so it doesn't shift around. I used a little roll made with green painter's masking tape.

I got one more card made that I'll show tomorrow. Now that I'm back at work the weekends seem to be my only time for stamping.
